We were able to make it to Houston for Christmas this year and had a great time. We enjoyed our little family celebrations while in the Azores but it was nice to celebrate with both Jared's and my family again. It was also so nice to spend so much time with Jared's sister Kacey. She was home from Maryland almost the whole time we were and it had been since Paige was only three weeks old that we had spent any extended time with her. Her fiance, Jonathan, also flew in for New Years and it was wonderful to get to know him better.
Jared and I are trying to create some Christmas traditions, like singing Christmas carols, reading the Christmas story from the Bible, reading Polar Express.... Below you'll see a few pictures of our "caroling" as Letha is playing the piano. No easy feat with two toddlers on the bench with but she did great!
The Solether family singing a few carols
Daddy reading Paige a new book from Santa
Paige enjoying her stocking stuffer ... I wasn't very creative this year

Owen and our little Christmas tree
I had big ideas of really decorating the house since I had all my holiday stuff again (it stayed in storage while in the Azores) but I just didn't get to it. And neither Jared or I wanted to face putting up our bear of a fake tree we bought overseas but we couldn't have nothing...Owen wouldn't stand for it. We compromised with this little tree on our file cabinet - pretty festive right? Owen complained, wanting our big tree but we got away with this because Pops and Granlee would both have big tree for him in Texas. We'll most likely stay here next year and I'm sure I'll really get into the spirit then.
Another shot of Letha playing piano with the kids - Paige's feet really helped!
