Gig Em!

It's that time of year again...I take picture of Owen in Jared's Aggie jersey and we'll do it until it fits him. It's fun to see the change year to year. I haven't started doing something with Paige, but I should. I'll have to figure something out.

Snow in San Diego!

The kids played in snow last night - not real snow though, machine made, but still fun for Owen and Paige. Last night was the big Christmas kick-off on Coronado Island. Santa came by ferry boat to the island and they had a snow mountain for the kids to slide down.

After dining on pizza, Owen opted for the snow slide vs. seeing the Christmas parade (probably a wise choice because we were running late and probably would have missed it). The kids haven't seen much snow in their days. Owen once in Italy between Rome and Florence and Paige, well never.

They enjoyed sliding on their bums and didn't even mind having cold, wet britches. Owen made sure to tell us that his pants were wet because the ice made them wet - he did not pee in them. Thanks for the clarification!

The Graduate

It was bound to happen....we knew it was coming sooner or later....Paige climbing out of her crib. This week it started and I might say, she was quite proud of herself too. This morning she climbed out and helped herself to yogurt and grapes from the fridge! In an attempt to keep her safe and the crib in good enough condition for another baby, we moved Paige into her big girl bed today. Did we nap today - NO WAY! But she went to bed tonight pretty easily.

We have a fairly small house so when the baby comes Owen and Paige will share a room (I have to say that I think my sister thinks this is a little odd and even asked me if it was legal, I laughed!). The kids are pretty excited to share a room; we'll see if they change their tune once it actually happens. I am on the hunt for a set of bunk beds that I like (I feel I am on the hunt for the Holy grail of bunk beds, Jared is ready for the search to be over).

Until we find the best bunk beds, Paige will camp on her bed in her room. One transition at a time is probably wise. I remember going through this transition with Owen and it was quite unpleasant, not sure I'm ready to do it again but ready or not - we're there!

Owen tucked Paige into her bed for nap time and sang her our "goodnight song." It was pretty cute. Wish she would have napped afterwards but oh well.

Thanksgiving in Tucson

We celebrated another wonderful Thanksgiving in Tucson with my Aunt Mary, Uncle John, cousins David and Nick. The drive wasn't too bad and the new van served us well. The kids loved seeing their older cousins, who were such good sports about playing and entertaining them. Thank you David and Nick! Paige was especially taken with David this go around and the three cats they have. She would chase the cats yelling "Kitty Cat, Kitty Cat!"

The food was great, the company even better. I always enjoy spending time with my aunt and her family. We were especially blessed to spend time with Aunt Annie too who flew in the day after Thanksgiving for a weekend away from Maryland. As my kids won't know my mother, who passed nine years ago now, it is special for me when they get to spend time with my mom's sisters, Mary and Annie.

We enjoyed a trip to the Air and Space Museum. Owen and the guys did the bus tour of the Boneyard at the Air Force Base. They have over 4,400 airplanes there! We also went to the Desert Museum one afternoon which was a lot of fun; the kids really enjoyed themselves.

Jared was able to watch his Aggies BTHO of the Texas Longhorns, Whoop! The weekend of football viewing and family time went way to quickly and soon enough we were on our way back to San Diego. Time does fly when you have fun! Thank you to the Adams family for hosting us again for Thanksgiving!
